Chestnut Tree Stables and Newmarket

Chestnut Tree Stables.
Perfectly located towards the top of Hamilton Road with excellent access to both “Racecourse” and “Bury” side gallops.
Chestnut Tree Stables were first built by The Jockey Club in 1968 on then predominantly undeveloped Hamilton Road, making it the first of many on this side of town. Legendary trainer of the great Frankel, Sir Henry Cecil, was it’s first occupant and trained back-to-back Guineas winners such as Wollow and Bolkonski, before moving to Warren Place.
Chestnut Tree Stables was purchased by Jack in November 2025, marking an exciting new chapter for Jack Jones Racing and providing a permanent base for the continued growth of the operation. The yard offers spacious, stables alongside a comprehensive range of facilities, including three horse walkers, two lunge pens, a newly refurbished Martin Collins surfaced trotting ring, and 15 turnout paddocks.
Incredible Location.
As well as being on the door step of we are only a 15 minute walk from “Bury Side” gallops, crucial for the horses conditioning work on gallops such as Warren hill and Long hill. The large majority of our “fast work” will be done on the grass gallops parallel to the Rowley Mile racecourse; the peat moss, summer and watered.
Also, having access to the artificial gallop on the Cambridge allows us to work horses when weather does not allow us to use the grass. Jack has first-hand experience facilities on both sides of town.

Newmarket’s world-renowned training grounds span almost 3,000 acres, featuring over 50 miles of grass gallops and 14 miles of artificial surfaces. Maintained year-round by the Jockey Club Estates team, the facilities provide exceptional training conditions for horses seven days a week.
Newmarket Racecourse
Newmarket Racecourses are situated in close proximity to the town.
Home to the iconic Rowley Mile and July Course, Newmarket Racecourses are at the centre of British flat racing. Hosting two of the country’s five Classic races alongside a prestigious calendar of Group 1 fixtures, Newmarket remains one of the most celebrated racing venues in the world.
